Air Compassion for Veterans, FedEx, Omni Air Transport Ambulance, with AeroCare Medical Transport (a Zuni Tribal Corp.), together are providing a Christmas dream come true for Wounded Warrior PFC Timothy Hall

November 30, 2010

Virginia Beach, VA -- Air Compassion for Veterans/Wounded Warriors (ACV) is announcing today (November 30, 2010) that a flight will be provided on December 18, 2010 for PFC Timothy Hall so he can spend Christmas at home with his family and friends in Hawthorne, NV.

This Air Compassion for Veterans (ACV) flight will be made possible with the help of donated fuel from the FedEx Corporation on a donated Omni Air Transport ambulance with the AeroCare Medical Transport team.

Sentinels of Freedom, a fellow Coalition for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans partner, informed ACV of PFC Timothy Hall’s dream to able to go home for Christmas. PFC Hall is receiving the finest treatment at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. During combat in Afghanistan he lost both legs and part of his pelvic bone. He is regaining use of his arms and has had internal injuries that are successfully being treated. Every day is a fight for him as he also suffers a degree of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and possible Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

PFC Hall was awarded the Purple Heart and an American flag from Sen. John Ensign on July 31. PFC Hall has had many distinguished visitors including the Secretary of Defense and the President of the United States but hometown visitors are what give him the biggest lift. PFC Hall's mother, Tammy Hamrey, has said that the only thing he wants for Christmas is to celebrate it at home in Hawthorne with family and friends.

This dream is finally coming true on December 18th through ACV and the tremendous efforts of our partners on this mission. Usually ACV provides their flights for wounded warriors and their adversely affected family members, over 18,000 total veteran flights in the past 48 months, via tickets on commercial airlines. Due to PFC Hall’s critical and extensive injuries he is required to remain prone and fly via air ambulance with a medical team. The Omni Air Transport ambulance with the AeroCare Medical Transport team will depart from Washington DC’s Dulles airport (at the Landmark terminal) at 10:00 AM. PFC Hall will also be accompanied by his father, Russ Hall and will be landing in Hawthorne, NV around 2:00 PM.

PFC Hall was stationed at the Naval Air Station Fallon before he was assigned to the 173rd Brigade Support Battalion out of Bamburg, Germany. He was critically injured in a mortar attack in Afghanistan on June 9th, 2010. Hawthorne’s Lahontan Valley News wrote this poignant comment, “There's no sugarcoating the ugliness of war. Whether our men and women are fighting in the hot, dry deserts of Iraq or in the mountains of Afghanistan, they are putting their lives at risk………all to protect the freedom we are blessed with in America. Americans may not agree on the war efforts in Iraq or Afghanistan, but we can never forget the great sacrifices that are being made by those in uniform.”

When the ugly side of war hit close to home as it did with PFC Hall, his home town came together to support the family. They are planning a huge welcoming home celebration on December 18th. Hawthorne with its population of approximately 3,000, bills itself as the one of the most patriotic communities in the United States. Showing their true colors, most of Hawthorne will be there as PFC Hall arrives on his home coming ACV flight. The celebration will continue for PFC Hall and his family until he boards his returning ACV flight back to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in DC on approximately January 5, 2011.

Once PFC Hall is released from urgent medical care, he plans to stay with his parents at their current home in Hawthorne for the next couple of years. ACV will continue to reach out to assist PFC Hall and his family by helping them connect with other charitable Non-Government Organizations (NGO’s) to help with possible remodeling of the Hall home and any continuing medical, counseling and rehabilitation treatment he will need.

ACV wants to again thank the FedEx Corporation, Omni Air Transport Ambulance and the AeroCare Medical Transport team for helping to provide this healing and compassionate Christmas flight for Tim Hall.

ACV also wants to thank Sentinels of Freedom, Products for Good, Aero Care of Illinois, American Airlines, Robert Pense and Gary Sinise for working so hard on trying to help this project and continuing to make the wishes of wounded warriors come true.
